Thai Nyyom

Prototyping and redesigning a mobile site of a local Thai restaurant situated in the heart of west-end Toronto.

The prototype featured on the right was done for my Introduction to UX/UI course. I was tasked with re-designing a local restaurant’s website for a mobile device and I chose Thai Nyyom, a family owned Thai restaurant located on Bloor St West and Symmington Ave.

The current website lacked visual hierarchy and felt disorganized. I also felt that the existing website was a bit dull and that it could be upgraded to feel more modern and visually aesthetic while still honouring the current Thai Nyyom brand identity.

This project was redesigned and prototyped using Adobe XD. I wanted to create visual hierarchy within the pages through the use of different Character Styles and colours. I incorporated the swirl-like patterns that cover the walls of the restaurant’s interior into my redesign. Additionally, I also added a pop of green to the brand colours, which was not part of the existing colour palette. I believe the green brings the website to life and evokes a sense of comfort and trust to the website.

The goal was to create a user experience that replicates the experience one feels when they enter the restaurant.
